Homemade Pizza - A Summer Staple
We’ve been making ~ and perfecting ~ our homemade pizza recipe for the last few months. Not going to lie - it’s a lot of effort to get all the ingredients and prepare them when you can just get a ready-to-bake pizza from the grocery store to throw in the oven… so you have to find joy in the process of preparing it all yourself.
We usually make them on weekends when we have more time to cut up all the produce, make the sauce, and wait for them to bake. This helps make it a fun activity with music, good conversation and maybe a favorite beverage.
Our Favorite Ingredients:
Spicy Ground Chicken
Red Onion
White Onion
Mushrooms
Fresh Mozzarella
Tomatoes
Fresh Basil
Red and Orange Peppers
Jalapeños
Honey
Sea Salt
Garlic
Each time we make them it’s a little different depending on what we have on hand (and remember to buy haha).
Homemade Sauce:
We blend 1 tomato, 2 garlic cloves, and some fresh basil in the ninja. The tomato adds a lot of water so adjust accordingly. Use a spoon to spread it onto the dough.
Once all the toppings are added, I like to pinch the crust over and around to help keep the toppings on the pizza and add a nice crust. Pro tip - wait to add the basil under AFTER it’s done in the oven. Then drizzle with honey and large flaky sea salt. Delicious!
