Visiting An Organic Vineyard in Mallorca

This year for my 32nd birthday, my mom took us on a trip to Mallorca. It’s a beautiful island off the eastern coast of Spain. I found friends to do a house exchange with so that was a huge savings on accommodation. Their house is located in a rural village on the northeastern part of the island. I’m so grateful we did this exchange because it brought us to an area of the island that we likely wouldn’t have explored if we just stayed in Palma (as many tourists do).

A rental car is a necessity to visit the diverse natural landscapes found across the island from the rolling inland plains to the coastal cliffs. One of the big draws of this island is the abundance of independent vineyards. There are 300+ of them scattered across the island. As part of my birthday celebration, I really wanted to visit one of these. As someone who values sustainability and good design ~ I found the perfect place with the same values.

We went to an organic vineyard called Los Dos Cabelleros, which translates to ‘The Two Gentleman’ in English. When we visited, we were the only customers so we got 1:1 time with the owner who shared all about his journey to owning this magnificent property. His concept is rooted in sustainability. They have a state of the art solar system that delivers power to the whole property. They are also completely self-sufficient on renewable energy. Their bottles are recycled glass with recycled paper and beeswax seals. They never use harmful chemicals or pesticides.

Opening his own concept was a dream he had since childhood when he watched his grandfather work with grapes and wine. It was a really inspiring story and I’m so glad we got to experience this beautiful place! It would be an incredible setting for a private event such as a rehearsal dinner, intimate wedding, tasteful bachelorette celebration, or anniversary
