Zero Waste - Save Money, Reduce Stress, Live Mindfully
If you haven’t read the book Ishmael and seen the new Netflix documentary “buy now” - I highly encourage both. they’re very impactful and actually show how bad things have really got on our planet.
This post is not supposed to make anyone feel bad at all. We have been programmed to live this consumerist way - it’s very normalized to have way way more than we need, and it’s presented to us that we SHOULD live this way (above our means).
I have found SO much happiness and joy by downsizing, shopping less, living below my means, prioritizing experiences over things and investing in quality over quantity.
Too much stuff can truly cause a lot of stress - it makes our homes messy, it’s more to clean, it’s more stuff to worry about breaking, and it’s harder to be satisfied with what you have if you constantly fill that consumerist void.
No one is perfect and I definitely don’t live a completely zero waste lifestyle but each day I try to be mindful and aware of how I spend my money (prioritizing small business over corporations), buying high quality goods that will last, buying clean organic and natural products, and choosing items with less packaging. I also love to borrow, trade or buy secondhand whenever possible!
