Managing Anger In A Healthy Way

I know it's a part of the human experience but I do not like how often I am angry because it really affects both my mental and physical health and I want to be a more positive / light-hearted person.

Understanding WHY I get angry has been super helpful to calming down in these situations because I do not want my body to be in this heightened state for an extended duration.

Anger - Why you might be experiencing these feelings
anger can be triggered by various factors and circumstances
reasons why you might be experiencing anger

Here are 10 common reasons why you might get angry:

1. frustration: encountering an obstacle, delay or challenge when trying to achieve a goal

2. injustice: enough said. I think we all know there’s plenty to be upset about around the world. witnessing or experiencing unfair treatment, discrimination or inequality can evoke intense emotion.

3. betrayal: if trust is broken

4. lack of control: feeling powerless or unable to influence a situation

5. stress: with reduced patience and coping abilities, high-stress can make you more prone to anger

6. disrespect: if someone is rude, condescending or violates a boundary it can feel like our self-esteem / dignity is undermined

7. fear: you want to protect yourself from threats or harm so it can manifest as anger

8. disappointment: unmet expectations, especially if you feel your time, energy and / or resources were wasted

9. conflict: differing opinions or interests

10. pain and illness: physical discomfort can cause irritability which can lead to anger or outbursts

It can help a lot to bring awareness to our anger by talking about it, journaling, telling a therapist / friend or going to do a workout with the intention to blow off steam.
